Laos to Your House is Chicago’s only Lao-inspired food project–or restaurant for that matter, and they’re bringing this traditional, lesser-known Asian cuisine to the suburbs with DwellSocial. Inspired by the home cooking of their mother, Stacy Seuamsothabandith, along with her husband Byron and brother, Chef Keo, brought to life the recipes from their childhood to shine a spotlight on Laos, and the culture of this overlooked country. Many of the Lao emigrants, like Chef Keo, his dad, "Lucky" Seuam, and the rest of their family, had to leave everything they owned behind, matriculating through refugee camps in Thailand and then onto the U.S. Laos To Your House is a story of overcoming obstacles of several generations, and exists because of these sacrifices. The menu is based on everyday food of the country of Laos–with a few tasting experiences mixed in to give those not familiar with the cuisine an experience that isn’t available anywhere else in the city, or the suburbs.
